The Teppanyaki Spread at the Chew - Pan Asian Cafe!

Hi friends,

I have re-iterated time and again that I live to eat and Chinese Food is one of my weaknesses. And it would be incomplete if I did not add here that dimsums (aka Momos) make me melt...!
So, I was very excited when I got to visit the Chew - Pan Asian Cafe in Connaught Place, Delhi for a food bloggers meet. Being a food enthusiast and having visited almost all restaurants in Connaught Place, this place was on top of my go-to list since I heard about their mango festival a few weeks back and was already bugging my friends every weekend to check the place out.

Thankfully, I had the good fortune to fulfil my wish. This time around, the theme was Teppanyaki Grill. The restaurant is designed keeping in mind the contemporary, live and interactive environment in mind.We were given a demonstration by the chef and a basic introduction by the Executive Chef there. Teppanyaki is a traditinal style of Japanese cooking using an iron flat-griddle. Teppan is the name given to the flat grill on which the food is cooked and yaki is the japanese style of cooking. The food is cooked as per the japanese style of cooking adding some twists to suit the indian palette.

Here is a picture of the grill for reference,

The Chef in action.

Chew Pan-Asian Cafe, the ultimate Pan-Asian destination celebrated an afternoon dedicated to experiencing the tantalizing world of Teppanyaki Cuisine.

The scrumptious spread consisted of some authentic delicacies such as Grilled prawns, Crispy Chicken, Chicken Teriyaki, Assorted Mushrooms, Grilled Mixed Vegetables and Mixed Fried Rice. The executive chef at the Pan-Asian cafe was delighted to give us a tour of the process and whole technique of cooking on the teppan grill. It was indeed an exciting afternoon, as we got be a part of the fun and interactive dining experience.

The food, the drinks, the desserts were all to die for. So much so, that the desserts would be something that would draw me to this restaurant soon and again. Do try the Banoffee pie. The portions are pretty good and are good value for money. And if two of you are visiting, then I would recommend you get the swing seats reserved for you. Wondering what that is..?! Imagine two white swings hanging from the ceiling with a table in between. Dreamy...isn't it..!?

'Raas' - At the Hauz Khas Village!

Hi people!! As always, I hope and wish everyone reading this is in the best of health and spirits.

Thankfully, the weather here in Delhi has been improving compared to the last few days. The temperature has definitely come down and there is an occasional rain, just enough to put us all in good moods!

So, just like me, if you have been a frequent visitor to the Hauz Khas village, you would know that this weather is great to enjoy the lovely array of choices that this place has to offer in terms of food and the beauty that the fort becomes once the clouds decide to hover. Being a smart foodie, I decided to cash in on the mercy of the weather Gods and went to the village with a friend.

Since, my friend is a non vegetarian like me but prefers Indian food much more than any other cuisine, we zeroed in on RAAS. This is an Indian and Pakistani cuisine restaurant located on the right side as you enter the village.

The music was Indian and Pakistani soft music, with songs ranging from Kailash Kher, Ghulam Ali to some nice Pakistani bands. The ambiance was also good and soothing. One of the best parts about the restaurant was the view. Through the big glass wall, you could see the Hauz Khas fort. Since the weather was beautiful, we enjoyed the view of trees dancing with the breeze, kids playing in the garden and birds flocking the skies. It would be best to say that my words cannot do justice to how peaceful and beautiful the surroundings were with the melodious Hindi music in the background.

Coming on to the food, the choices were mouthwatering. Everything sounded and read so delicious that I had to handover the menu to my friend since I could not decide what all to order. We ordered a few drinks and Galouti Kebab to go with them. Galouti Kebab is a kebab which is made with minced lamb which is oh so delicately spiced served on a parantha with sides of Onion rings with green mint chutney, red chilli - yoghurt chutney and a dhania and chilli chutney. The combination, trust me was to die for! The kebab was melt-in-your-mouth delicate and flavorful. The spices were so perfectly added that you could get the flavour of the lamb with each bite to make you go 'yummm'. After that, we ordered Lahsuni Murg Tikka, which as the name suggests had lots of garlic flavour. Once again, I would like to point out that garlic was not overpowering and you could taste the chicken beautifully. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The portion size was good. Since, this was a post lunch meal and the weather was getting more and more enticing, we decided to move out and enjoy the rest of our day at the fort.

Now comes the catch. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my camera and my phone at home. So could not click any food pics. However, here are a few pictures at the fort. I hope you like them.

That is me...

All in all, the restaurant is really good and serves mouth watering Indian and Pakistani food. I would recommend this place to all my fellow foodies. I hope you guys have as much a good time as me.

P.S: I hope my words did justice enough to compensate the absence of any food pics!

Till next time...cheers..!

My birthday - The tradition and going Out of The Box !

Hi Guys..!
I hope everyone is doing great and surviving the scorching heat if you are anywhere in North India. God bless us all and here's hoping that we gather the means and the strength to survive this ever worsening heat wave that we as Indians have to bear each year.

Some 20 days back, I celebrated my special day! Errrr...do not get any ideas, it was my birthday and that is as special as it gets for me! I have a tradition of meeting my best friends (read: soulmates) and try to dress in something that I would not usually wear. For example, once I wore a red pajama with a white T shirt and a boho jhola bag with kolhapuri chappals. Another time, I wore a mid-calf length black boho skirt. And this time around I chose to wear a blue based printed pants with a black cami and a blue denim jacket. I teamed it with a boho sling bag and once again, my all time favourite kolhapuri chappals..! So, as you can notice, the only thing that has not changed about me over the years is my love for kolhapuris and 'boho' and my eternal love for food. This time around, me along with my besties went to Hauz Khas village. Keeping in mind the taste palates of everyone (vegetarians/ non vegetarians), we decided to go to OUT OF THE BOX.

This joint is located in the main market area and is easily locatable as you enter the hub. We went to the second floor seating area and ordered some drinks - The ever essential Frappe, a lemon Iced tea and a Cranberry Iced tea. After a hearty chit chat and a photo session, it was time for food. We ordered a vegetarian pasta in white sauce, a chicken pasta in red sauce, some chilly chicken along with mushroom and spinach dimsums...!

Overall, the food was good. But I would say there was room for improvement. For example, the vegetarian pasta was a little bland (forgot-to-put-salt bland!). The dimsums were good, with a special mention of the 4 types of sauces they served with it. One of them was a garlicky black bean sauce which was my favourite of them all along with different kinds of chilly sauces and some soy to go with it. The chilly chicken was also normal but good. The best part for me was the pasta in red sauce. Really creamy and yum...

I would also mention here that I loved the decor and the whole ambiance of the place. The lighting was just right for a hot summer Delhi day (and also perfect for clicking pictures..!). All in all, I would recommend this place to everyone. You can have a good time there with a bunch of friends on a hot summer day, or heck, any other day..!

Here are some pictures of food from that day. I hope you guys like them..Take a look...

I hope you enjoyed the post. Do let me know in case you have any suggestions.

Till next time...
Cheers..!
